The Sky Park Offices grew between Zaha Hadid's iconic towers and the renovated Jurkovič heating plant as the result of an international competition. The winning design by Vietzke & Borstelmann resulted in a gracefully curved building composed of horizontal and vertical mass sensitively complementing the dynamic urban structure. Although the competition set the direction, the project still carried many challenges – from the technical infrastructure for the neighboring national cultural monument, through the connection of the underground parking, to the fulfillment of the ambitions of the LEED Gold ecological certificate.
The GFI played a key role on the way from the concept to implementation as a local partner and general designer and also as a guardian of the vision under the pressure of local building legislation and planning regulations. The task was not only to bring the architectural concept to the implementation details, but also to defend the original artistic vision in a demanding construction environment.
The Sky Park Offices represent architecture that maintains its identity in a strong context – it brings a quality working environment and at the same time co-creates the urbanism of a new urban location.
